Reading the weather on Lake Havasu
Wind matters more than temperature
Lake Havasu runs north to south in a channel between the Mohave Mountains and the California side, and wind funnels down it. Mornings are usually glass; the breeze builds through the afternoon. Under 10 mph is easy going anywhere on the lake. Around 15 mph you'll feel chop in the open water but the coves stay comfortable. At 25 mph and up it's a rough ride in anything small.
Go early in summer
Summer afternoons here regularly pass 110°F. A half-day rental starting at 8:30 AM gives you the calmest water and the coolest part of the day. Every boat has a bimini for shade. Bring more water than you think you need.
The water stays warm into fall
Lake Havasu holds its heat. The water is usually in the low to mid 80s from July into September and stays swimmable well after the air cools off, which makes September and October two of the best months on the lake.
We watch it for you
If conditions turn before your rental, we call you. If you're unsure about a forecast, call the office at (928) 854-4214. Someone at the dock can tell you what the water looks like right now.

Lake Havasu weather questions
What is the water temperature in Lake Havasu right now?
Lake Havasu is 72°F as of Nov 4, measured at Parker Dam by the US Bureau of Reclamation. The lake is warmest from July through September, usually in the low to mid 80s, and coolest in January and February, around the high 50s.
Is it a good day to be on Lake Havasu?
Lake Wind Advisory in effect. The National Weather Service has a lake wind advisory out for Lake Havasu City. Check with us before you head to the water. We'll call you if your rental is affected.
How windy does Lake Havasu get?
Mornings are usually the calmest, and wind tends to build through the afternoon. Lake Havasu sits in a channel between mountains, so a 15 mph wind makes noticeable chop in the open water and 25 mph or more makes for a rough ride in a smaller boat. The coves stay much calmer when the main channel is choppy.
What happens to my rental if the weather turns bad?
Safety comes first. If weather or lake conditions make it unsafe, we'll delay, shorten or cancel a rental, and we'll call you on the number on your booking. If you're unsure about the forecast, call the office at (928) 854-4214 and we'll tell you how it looks from the dock.
When is the best time of year to rent a boat on Lake Havasu?
Lake Havasu City gets sunshine most of the year, and we rent seven days a week. Spring and fall bring warm days without the peak summer heat. Summer is hottest, often well over 100°F, so early-morning and late-afternoon rentals are the most comfortable. We've been renting on the lake since 2009.
